What do Jews think of Christians?

Excerpted from "THE WAR WE ARE IN" by Joseph Sobran, 9 December 2003.

Jewish History, Jewish Religion, by the late Israel Shahak, illuminates the influence of Talmudic Judaism on the state of Israel. According to Shahak, the Talmud and associated traditional teachings "inculcate an attitude of scorn and hatred toward gentiles," especially Christians. One ancient prayer beseeches, "[May] all the Christians perish instantly."

The Talmudic literature is more concerned with ritual and practice than with theology as Christians understand it. Still, it’s imbued with what Shahak calls "a very deep hatred towards Christianity." "According to the Talmud," he writes, "Jesus was executed by a proper rabbinical court for idolatry, inciting other Jews to idolatry, and contempt for rabbinical authority." Other Jewish sources accuse him of sorcery and assert that he was damned to hell, where he suffers in boiling excrement; also that he was a "bastard," his mother having "played the harlot" with Roman soldiers and conceived him, uncleanly, during menstruation.

Jerry's Comments: Notice that the Talmud commits, among other slanders against Jesus, what the Christian Bible calls the Unforgivable Sin (Matthew 12:32, Mark 3:28, Luke 12:10). The Talmud teaches that Jesus did his miracles by sorcery (through the power of the devil) and not by grace of the Holy Spirit. This is a blasphemy of the Holy Spirit, and it is unforgivable according to Christian doctrine. The sin is committed by anyone who agrees with the ancient Talmudic rabbi who originated the blasphemy. Between true Christians and those who follow the Jewish faith there can be no valid reconciliation, any more than between Christians and any other hopelessly damned group (if there is any other). That is the actual Christian doctrine. Any Christian teacher who says differently should be regarded as an agent of Satan, leading his flock to Hell with his lies.

What did Jesus think of the Jewish teachings?

Matthew 23:13-15
Spoken by Jesus, according to the Bible.

But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.

Alas alas for you, lawyers and pharisees, hypocrites that you are! Searching for souls of fools to forsake them, you travel the land, you scour the sea. After you've got your converts you make them twice as fit for hell as you are yourselves!

Alas, alas for you, lawyers and pharisees, hypocrites that you are! Sure that the kingdom of Heaven awaits you; you will not venture half so far. Other men who might enter the gates you keep from passing through! Drag them down with you! You snakes, you viper's brood, you cannot escape being Devil's food! I send you prophets, I send you preachers: Sages and rages and ages of teachers— Nothing can bar your mood.

Alas, alas for you, lawyers and pharisees, hypocrites to a man! Sons of the dogs who murdered the prophets, finishing off what your fathers began. You don't have time to scorn and to scoff; it's getting very late! Vengence doesn't wait! ... Blind guides, blind fools, the blood you spilt on you will fall! This nation, this generation, will bear the guilt of it all!

—Paraphrase of the song "Alas for You," attributed to Jesus in GODSPELL.

John 8:37-59
A fascinating and revealing argument between Jesus and the Jews.

Jesus: I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you. I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.

The Jews: Abraham is our father.

Jesus: If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham. But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham. Ye do the deeds of your father.

The Jews: We be not born of fornication; we have one father, namely God.

Jesus: If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. Why do ye not understand my speech? It is because ye cannot hear my word. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is the father of lies. And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not. Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me? He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

The Jews: Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?

Jesus: I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do dishonour me. And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth. Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.

The Jews: Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death. Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself?

Jesus: If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God: Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying. Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.

The Jews: Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?

Jesus: Verily, verily, I say unto you, before Abraham was, I am.

Then the Jews took up stones to cast at Jesus. But Jesus made himself invisible, and walked out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so went on his way.

Jerry's Comments: Christianity and Judaism are not reconcilable. An attempt to reconcile them is a sin aimed at the destruction of the Christian Church and Faith. Christian leaders who commit this sin are traitors who do the devil's work under the pretense of serving God. If the Jews will be in Hell, after Judgment Day, these traitors will be on the burning ground beneath the Jews' feet.

Also, notice that Jesus denied only having a devil. He did not deny being a Samaritan; i.e., he was accused of being a non-Jew, and he let that much of the accusation stand unchallenged.
